August is here! This is my back-to-school month. Even though we homeschool, I take summers off (I’m old-fashioned if you hadn’t noticed!), and we start school at the beginning of September. This is one of my weeks for planning and preparing, so my notes for this week are simple, but here is the meal plan for your Mid-Century Menu Monday for August 10th to 16th!

Mid-Century Menu Monday for August 10th to 16th

Monday’s Meal Plan

Breakfast

  • Orange, grapefruit juice
  • Prepared whole cereal
  • Toast with butter, jelly
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Lunch

  • Cream of salmon soup
  • Celery
  • Crisp crackers
  • Cantaloupe
  • Hot or iced tea, milk for children

Dinner

  • Lamb and lima bean casserole
  • Buttered riced beets
  • Bread and butter
  • Lettuce wedges with Russian dressing
  • Sugared peaches
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Tuesday’s Meal Plan

Breakfast

  • Plums
  • Soft-cooked eggs
  • Toast with butter, jam
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Lunch

  • Peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches
  • Radishes
  • Sliced peaches with top milk
  • Iced tea for adults, milk for children

Dinner

  • Pot roast of veal and gravy
  • Parsley buttered potatoes
  • Stewed fresh corn
  • Tomato and cucumber salad
  • Bread and butter
  • Apple delight with soft custard
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Wednesday’s Meal Plan

Breakfast

  • Grapefruit, orange juice
  • Prepared cereal with top milk
  • Whole-wheat toast with butter
  • Pan-broiled bacon
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Lunch

  • Macaroni salad
  • Buttered green beans
  • Bread and butter
  • Red plums
  • Iced tea for adults, milk for children

Dinner

  • Liver loaf with catsup or chili sauce (save some for Thursday’s lunch)
  • Creamed potatoes
  • Buttered chard or cabbage
  • Bread and butter
  • Baked apricot whip (save egg yolks for Thursday)
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Thursday’s Meal Plan

Breakfast

  • Grapefruit juice
  • Scrambled eggs (use the yolks left from Wednesday)
  • Toast with butter
  • Orange marmalade
  • Coffee for adults, milk for children

Lunch

  • Liver loaf sandwiches
  • Pineapple coleslaw
  • Chilled cocoa for all

Dinner

  • Braised lamb shoulder chops
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Buttered onions

Friday’s Meal Plan
